Cultural Day & Funfair – Year 2022

Sabawoon Education Academy has always strives to connect children with their culture while providing them education. The feeling of being connected to your own culture, builds your confidence and you don’t shy away from presenting yourself to the world with your true self and origin. Each year Sabawoons host a festival called Cultural Day and Fun Fair. In this event the children buildup as a team and under the guidance and supervision of their teachers, they present their culture to the world with all its glory.
This year too, the children presented their culture through various dresses, food, social interactions, dances and sports. The children wore dresses, worn in different parts of Pakistan and set up stalls consisting of food and non-food items.
Besides the children, parents and community also attended the event in large numbers. Participants bought different items from different stalls. Children performed the traditional Pakhtun dance “Attan” in a group. At the same time, the children also made a model of a traditional household in a village, which was of deep interest to the people.
Children benefit a lot from such activity in many ways. Their communications skills improve, they learn to think critically, they learn the art of collaboration and above all it enhances their creativity. They learn the art of working together and their love for their culture grows. They learn how to make and build partnership by making a joint investment in the stalls. In the end, they sit down and calculate their profits or loss, thus learning the application of mathematical principles in daily life. This enhances the qualities of entrepreneurship in them. They take note of their mistakes and try to correct them next year in the same event. Thus by learning from their mistakes, they learn that mistakes are nothing but lessons learnt
Parents and locals enjoyed the activity alike. They praised Sabawoon Education Academy for its wonderful effort and wished that civil society and the government would encourage such programs.
